I have noticed that most Indian weddings in Australia consist of, effectively, two separate ceremonies. Since the Hindu ceremony is not recognised under Australian marriage Law, most couples will have a simple civil ceremony immediately following the Hindu ceremony.

My attitude to this is simple, why not combine the two? It is really simple to undertake the required civil components where they coincide with the Hindu components, the result being one, contiguous ceremony.

The result is a ceremony that has real meaning, a ceremony in which all components, including both cultural and Legal components are blended into one. It really does work brilliantly..

Not only were the couple's hands bound Hindu style, their wrists were also bound (fasted) Celtic style using a sash made from the groom's clan tartan.
