Philip's thoughts on Successful marriage

Recognise each other as individuals, after all, you are an individual with your own personality, likes & dislikes.

Never try to submerge your partner in yourself.

If you don't like something your partner does now, don't even think of trying to change it after marriage - you will only ruin it. If you can't stand it, then don't marry hin/her.

Be close, but not too close, yet always give love, support and affection.

Sure, you are individuals, but always be there for each other.

Ensure that the bond of love is what's there at the end of the day.

When there are children, you have to submerge your own individuality and work as a team for the common good of the children. If not, don't have them in the first place.

And... whatever you think at the time NEVER have a child in the vain hope it will make your husband work with you to raise them.

There is only one answer... Yes!
But it's up to you whether you do or don't. Few couples ever deeply consider the implications of marriage, be they legal issues, tax issues, property and ownership issues and last wills an testaments.

It never ceases to amaze me how many couples I meet are buying their home, yet they do not have at least a Last will and Testament.

The consequences of the above statement, especially where one of the partners may have a child from a previous relationship are potentially horendous, especially for that child or other children of both current and previous relationships. All this is covered in counselling.
